The Resort at Longboat Key Club earns industry recognition

Longboat Key, Florida - The Resort at Longboat Key hits an ace. It's been recognized as one of the top 25 tennis resorts in the world and named a 2013 Gold Medal Tennis Resort by Tennis Resorts Online.

The ranking includes reviews about both on court and off-court amenities, including lodging, dining, and professional and youth tennis programs.

The announcement comes on the heels of the finals of the 2013 Sarasota Open Men's USTA Challenger tournament hosted by the Longboat Key Club.

Voters can track absentee ballots online

Sarasota, Florida -- Voters in the May 14, 2013 City of Sarasota Second (runoff) Election who choose to vote by mail (absentee) may track their ballots online from the time they request the ballot until the voted ballot safely reaches the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections’ office.

Sarasota, Florida -- Attention comic book fans, it looks like May 4th is your lucky day!

Sarasota County libraries are offering "Free Comic Book Day". Starting at 10 a.m., every child who visits a county library that day can choose a free comic book while supplies last.

Sarasota, Florida- Sarasota Police and the homeless go head to head once again... this time, for camping illegally on the public right of way.

Police are using this opportunity not just to enforce the law, but to help mend the broken relationship between the two

Robert Lee has called the quiet city block along Florida Avenue home for six months. It's one block from the Salvation Army in the city's Rosemary District.

"I feel comfortable here," he says.

Descendants of Sarasota firefighters are eligible for scholarships

Sarasota, Florida -- Direct descendants of City of Sarasota firefighters are now eligible for a scholarship to attend State College of Florida thanks to the generosity of a Florida-based law firm. The $25,000 scholarship is funded by Sugarman & Susskind, P.A. in Miami which provides legal counsel for the City of Sarasota Firefighters' Pension Fund.
