Sarasota Summer Camp Registration Opens April 1

Sarasota, Florida -With just a couple of months left in the school year it's time to think of what the kids will be doing this summer.

Registration for Sarasota's summer camps begins April 1. The Sarasota County parks and Recreation summer camps are offered over 11 weeks for children entering grades 1 through 10.

The camps are open from 7:30 a.m. to as late as 5:45 p.m. The county offers a traditional camp from June10-July 5 and July 8-August 2.

Siesta Key, Florida -- Kids, it's time to get your running shoes on and your baskets ready. The Siesta Key Village is once again sponsoring a fun morning of activities, including an Easter egg hunt.

The fun on March 30 begins at 9 a.m. and runs until noon.

Besides the hunt, there will be face painting and other games and prizes. If you want to participate in the hunt, you have to register.

Sarasota, Florida - Celebrate the "Luck of the Irish", in an authentic way, on St. Armands Circle.

Festivities begin March 17, at Lynches Pub & Grub, an authentic Irish Pub with those Irish lasses from County Cork - Chris & Ethna, bright and early, and will continue into the "wee hours of the night."

Sarasota Schools To conduct Parent Survey

Sarasota, Florida- The Sarasota County School District will conduct its annual Parent Climate Survey from Feb. 25 to March 6.

The survey asks parents and guardians how well their schools are performing. The information is used to help measure customer satisfaction.

The link to the online survey will be posted on the Sarasota County School District website.

Respondents may take the survey by clicking on the "Parent Climate Survey" button on the left side of the home page.

Sarasota County Libraries Host "Design-A-Card" Contest

Sarasota, Florida- Feeling artistic this month? Then help Sarasota County libraries design new library cards.

As of Valentine's Day, applications for the "Design-A-Card" contest can be found at any county library,or on the library website at www.sclibs.net.

The theme for the card designs is "What my library means to me."

Entries may be submitted at any county library before 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

Tampa, FL-- There are 38 Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Bay area, and each and every one of them are working alongside the Children's Cancer Center to provide "Fuel for Families" this November.

The “Fuel for Families” challenge will collect grocery and gas gift cards for families who struggle financially to get their children to critical medical visits, and to provide them with healthy meals while undergoing treatment, explains a release about the initiative.

Reminder!! Postal Service to collect toys at mailboxes December 1

Tampa, FL-- It seems early to start thinking of the holidays, but the Suncoast District of the U.S. Postal Service wants to inform its customers of their upcoming toy drive. 

10 News told you all about it earlier this month, but we want to make sure you give yourselves enough time to get out there and pick up a toy to donate.

The collection will take place on December 1, exactly two weeks from today!  The Postal Service will pick up the toys from customers who are able to leave them by their mailboxes, or in bins at the nearest post office.
