Faith, a loggerhead sea turtle, is prepared for release on Dec. 16 at Lido Beach. Faith was rescued on July 15 in Englewood through the efforts of the Roberts family of Plant City and then successfully rehabilitated at Mote Marine Laboratory.

Both loggerhead sea turtles were rehabbed at Mote after suffering from lethargic loggerhead syndrome, a mysterious illness that can immobilize loggerhead sea turtles, a threatened species protected under federal law. Mote has rehabbed more than 283 sea turtles since 1995.
